UK publisher of esoteric thought and radical spirituality

Allan Armstrong

Author, Publisher, and Bookbinder

Now retired, Allan is married with two sons and four grandchildren. He has spent much of his adult life exploring and developing an understanding of spiritual disciplines, including: prayer & meditation; symbolism; liturgical studies; mysticism, kabbalah, and spiritual healing methods. He is also a writer, publisher, and bookbinder.

In 1975 he joined the Order of Dionysis & Paul, a small mystical order within the Holy Celtic Church dedicated to the spiritual life, an order that consists of men and women committed to living the contemplative life whilst dwelling in the secular world.

Raised to the priesthood in 1978 and to the episcopate in 1988, Allan has been, and remains still, a teacher of meditation and other spiritual disciplines. When his mentor, Archbishop Francis, passed on in 1991, Allan served the order as Prior-General until his retirement in September 2021. He remains an active member of the order and continues to head up a Study Society called the Fellowship of Dionysis and Paul (FDP), a society open to all who wish to develop a greater understanding of the Western Mystical Tradition.

As an author he writes books and essays on the Western Mystical Tradition; the books are published by Imagier Publishing, and the essays he writes can be seen on Substack and as a blog/newsletter on the Imagier Publishing website.

In 2008 Allan started to publish books under the banner of Imagier Publishing and in 2019 started Crucible Books, as an online bookstore specialising in new and used spiritual and esoteric books.

Repairing and rebinding books is something Allan has enjoyed since the 1980’s. However, for health reasons he has recently, and with some sadness, had to give it up.
